About Lemon Town Films
Lemon Town Films is a grassroots documentary project founded by filmmaker Michael Fanter, dedicated to telling heartfelt stories about small towns across America. Each film isn’t just a documentary—it’s a welcome package for new residents, a guidebook for visitors, a celebration for locals, and an entertaining glimpse of American town life for anyone who’s curious.
In each film, we dive into the town’s history, showcase its small businesses, highlight civic life, and bring the community together for a big premiere before sharing the film with the world. Whether you’re moving in, visiting, or you’ve lived there forever, our films are your window into what makes each town special.
What started in Illinois has grown into a national vision: to celebrate real people, real places, and the deep local pride that often goes unseen. With seven films completed and more on the way, Lemon Town Films continues to shine a light on towns that deserve to be remembered, explored, and celebrated.
In honor of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, Lemon Town Films is launching a special campaign to highlight the rich history and vibrant culture of these towns as part of the nation’s celebration. We are actively seeking communities, sponsors, and local partners—such as Chambers of Commerce, small businesses, and civic organizations—interested in collaborating to bring their town’s story to life through film. Each project is a locally funded, community-driven documentary that shines a light on the people, places, and pride that make America’s towns unique.
